A trip to Wichita
Gwen hadn't gotten to go to Wichita to see Jenn's side of the family in quite awhile, and we used Megan's fifth birthday party as an excuse.

Small anecdote
I know most babies give you lots of anecdotes, and for most of them you probably have to be there to really get the full feeling. And I know no one is likely as interested as Luke or I. But, I still want to remember this, so I'm making a little post.
Yesterday night, when I got home late, Gwen had already been put down for the night. Usually she stays asleep. Occasionally she'll wake up a little fussy or to eat. Luke and I were eating dinner together and the monitor goes off. Since I haven't seen her all day, I volunteered to go see what was up.
I go up to her room and listen at the door. She's been coughing a little, so I didn't want to bother her if she was just coughing some and still basically asleep.
Instead of coughing, I hear laughing. A lot of it. So I go in, and there she is, just haaaaaappy and laughing for no obvious reason. I start to laugh back. Then she REALLY gets going. Taking her downstairs to see Luke, she continues to laugh and starts to laugh enough to start making little baby laughing-so-hard-I'm-snorting noises.
It was probably the cutest thing ever.

Jenni found out that if you hold the button on the camera down, it takes a string of photos. Generally pretty bad photos due to the lack of a flash, but nevertheless... Time lapse! And yes, burp rags are her favorite toy right now. It probably would be potato chip bags if we'd let her have them though...
Gwen has been a bit grumpy today.
OK, so she wasn't ALL grumpy today...
And Jenni thinks we look like bad parents for this one, but this child LOVES her potato chip bags...
And she's quite sleepy too.

Grabbie grabbie
Short post today, sans pictures. Sorry.
Gwen appears to have hit a bit of a milestone. For the past several days she's be actively trying to grab things (rather than trash around and accidentally getting something in-hand). My beard is the most common casualty, but last night we found the best toy ever.
I was eating potato chips while Jenn was holding Gwen. As soon as she saw the bag, Gwen became very intent on it and wouldn't look away. I brought it closer and she grabbed the edge and started pumping her arms up and down maniacally. The crinkling of the bag seemed to fascinate her tremendously. We finally had to pry it away from her. It was quite entertaining to watch.
That's it. I warned you it was short.

New noises
I'm watching Gwen today. This hasn't happened recently because of my project at work - Grammers has been watching her on Saturdays, Jenni on Sundays, and Davina during the week. As such, I can't say for sure that these are new new sounds, or just sounds that are new to me...

OK, 30 minutes later, I've gotten her to go to sleep. I couldn't decide if these were happy or unhappy sounds; I'm guessing she couldn't either. However, at this point I think they were some variant of "I'm sleepy, but keep entertaining me you goofball".

Not much going on here
It's time for yet another boring post. Nothing much is changing on the homefront. Gwen's over her cold and her appetite has increased - she's taking almost 6 ounces fairly regularly. She's also slept the longest we've seen so far last week - over 6 hours. We're hoping that maybe, just maybe, she'll sleep through the night. Maybe by the time she's 12 or so.
